The AJIDIL-project explored and analysed people’s access to justice and the working of (legal) institutions in post-conflict, democratic Libya.

AJIDIL-project

The project was jointly undertaken by the Van Vollenhoven Institute (VVI) at Leiden University and the Benghazi Centre for Consultation and Research at the University of Benghazi (CRCT) and was part of the project ‘The Hague Approach: Achieving Sustainable Peace-Building - Peace Palace 2013’ which was carried out by the The Hague Institute for Global Justice.

The initial phase of the research culminated in the report ‘Searching for Justice in Post-Gaddafi Libya’ which was launched during a well-attended one-day seminar hosted by the Van Vollenhoven Institute (VVI) on 30 August 2013 in Leiden.

The The Hague Institute consequently drew on this study for a comparative study that included other post-conflict states such as Iraq and Afghanistan.
