The results of the first representative national survey on access to justice in Libya are now available in this report. This survey examines how people across Libya experience and deal with everyday legal problems. It covers a wide array of justiciable problems, including those related to employment, housing and land, family matters, citizenship, money, consumer issues, personal liberties and crime.
Nearly 4000 people in Libya were interviewed about the problems they encountered between 2019 and 2024, whether and how they addressed these problems, and the outcomes reached. The report provides insights into how common problems are, which advisors people turn to, and what actions they take in search of resolution. Furthermore, it explores perceptions justice institutions, including levels of trust in key institutions.
