Final two months of the A2JiL project

As the 'Access to Justice in Libya' (A2JiL) research project (2021-2026) enters its final two months, the project team in Libya and the Netherlands is finalising the last project outputs, and organising dissemination of the research results.

At the end of 2025, the A2JiL team finalised the report of Phase 3 of the project, covering the first nationwide quantitative survey on justice seeking in Libya. The report is available on our website under the section 'Research Output'.

In November 2025, in Tunis, the team organised a workshop with actors from across the Libyan justice sector to discuss the findings of the project’s final report on Access to Justice in Libya. The Workshop was followed by a High-Level Meeting with senior Libyan representatives from different fields of governance, who shared their perspectives and experiences related to the project’s research findings and preliminary recommendations. For further details, please see the event report.

In the final two months of the project, the A2JiL team in Libya will organise several specialised workshops in Tripoli, Benghazi and Sabha, in which discussions held during the workshop in Tunis last November will be continued with selected groups of actors from the justice institutions.

Finally, the final report of the project (including suggestions for a path towards a National Strategy on Access to Justice in Libya) will be presented and discussed during two final conferences. The first will take place in Tripoli on 27-28 January 2026 for a Libyan audience of legal experts, academics and policymakers, and including UN actors; the second will take place in Leiden on 10-11 February 2026 and will include a broader representation of Dutch and European experts and policymakers.

The final report of the A2JiL project will be published on this website after presentation during these two final conferences.
